President of Uzbekistan to attend the Informal Summit of the Turkic Council

On March 31, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the Informal Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council), via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during the upcoming summit, convened at the initiative of the Kazakh side, it is planned to discuss issues of further enhancing and strengthening multifaceted relations within the framework of the Turkic Council.

It is expected that the President of Uzbekistan in his speech will outline initiatives to build up mutually beneficial cooperation between the states of the Council in trade, economic, investment, transport, communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The member states of the Council, established on 3 October 2009, are Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Besides, Hungary participates in the work of the Turkic Council as an observer state.

The Republic of Uzbekistan became a full member in 2019 and for the first time in this status took part in the Baku Summit of the organization, on 15 October of the same year.

The main goals of the organization are to strengthen trust and ties between the Turkic Speaking States, develop cooperation in trade, economy, transport, energy, tourism, cultural and humanitarian spheres, coordinate efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.

The supreme body of the Turkic Council is the Council of Heads of State. The permanent executive body is the Secretariat, which is located in the city of Istanbul.

The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the International Turkic Academy and the Business Council are operating under the auspices of the Turkic Council.
