Presidents of Uzbekistan and Iran talk over the phone

On May 6, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani.

The heads of state exchanged sincere congratulations on the occasion of holy month of Ramadan, wishing each other and the two friendly peoples health and wellbeing in this tough times marked with the global spread of coronavirus infection.

Current issues on the agenda of bilateral relations, including the prospects for enhancing practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran in trade, economic, transport and communication spheres, have been substantively examined.

Leaders of the two countries instructed relevant ministries and agencies to continue the practice of holding regular videoconferences in order to minimize the impact of the pandemic on trade operations, cooperation projects in various sectors of the economy, transit of export-import cargo.

An agreement was also reached on coordination and close interaction in combating coronavirus, including the exchange of information and experience in prevention and treatment of this disease, as well as on the priority measures taken to support the population and business.

A range of international cooperation issues were considered.
