Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan talk over the phone

On May 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on his birthday and wished him good health, prosperity and new success, as well as peace and prosperity to the fraternal Kazakhstan people.

During the conversation, the established effective interaction and ongoing practical work on eliminating the consequences of the emergency at Sardoba Reservoir, as well as minimizing the negative impact of the spread of coronavirus infection on bilateral trade and economic ties, were noted with particular satisfaction.

The leaders of the two countries emphasized the importance of continuing close cooperation to overcome new challenges and common threats.

Current issues on the agenda of Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan relations have been considered.

The need for intensifying the activities of institutional dialogue mechanisms and building joint efforts aimed at ensuring the growth of mutual trade and investment indicators, promoting promising areas and cooperation projects in industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, and other priority areas was emphasized.

Views were also exchanged on a number of issues in international politics.

In conclusion, the Presidents of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan confirmed their commitment to further strengthening friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between the two fraternal countries.

The conversation was held in a traditionally warm and friendly atmosphere.
