Prospects for enhancing the interaction of the MIFT and the UN to ensure the environmental sustainability of the Aral Sea region discussed

Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov met with Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Yu Yu and UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to MIFT, at the meeting, issues of interaction between the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade and UN agencies on the implementation of further measures within the framework of the activities of the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region were discussed.

Opportunities were explored for enhancing practical cooperation on the implementation of a Special Resolution of the UN General Assembly on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies, adopted on May 18 this year at the initiative of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on holding additional discussions with the involvement of interested ministries and agencies, the main areas of projects, including the issue of building a Multidisciplinary Hospital in Muynak.
