The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar and agreed on a schedule of joint events for 2022.
Mr. Yousef Sultan highly appreciated the dynamic development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries in recent years.
Qatar is interested in further strengthening the political dialogue, developing trade, economic, investment, financial, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation with Uzbekistan through joint activities, including high-level bilateral visits.
The parties agreed to start work on preparing the agenda for the next round of political consultations to be held in Tashkent.
Mr. Yousef Sultan emphasized that the new opportunities opening up in Uzbekistan and the creation of favorable conditions for foreign investors, thanks to the open economic policy of the country’s leader, arouse great interest among Qatari businesspeople in entering the market of the country. In this regard, he supported the proposal to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation this year in Tashkent.
An agreement was reached on joint efforts to attract financial and technical assistance from the Qatar Fund for Development for the implementation of socio-economic projects in the Aral Sea zone in education, healthcare and infrastructure.
