SCO Energy Ministers hold their first meeting

Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Sherzod Khodjayev has taken part in the first organized meeting of the Energy Ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The virtual forum was chaired by the Tajik side.

“I am sure that this forum will become an effective platform for solving urgent problems in the fuel and energy complex of the SCO member states and for developing long-term plans for enhancing cooperation. As President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted during the Third Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders on August 6, “the issues of energy security of the region are becoming even more urgent taking into account the growth of national economies and population”. In this regard, we propose to continue efforts to form a common energy space, paying special attention to the introduction of green energy and energy-efficient technologies”, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan said.

Heads of delegations exchanged views on a wide range of issues of the state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the energy sector of the SCO member states.

The parties discussed and approved the Concept of Cooperation of the SCO Member States in the Energy Sector, and agreed to create a permanent Working Group of the SCO Member States on Cooperation in the Energy Sector and hold its first meeting this year.
