The Senate of the Oliy Majlis hosted a meeting between the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva and the UN Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt.
Issues of road safety and cooperation in the field, as well as accession of Uzbekistan to the main UN conventions on road safety and implementation of these conventions in the country were discussed at the meeting.
Jean Todt, highly appreciating the measures taken by the government of Uzbekistan to improve road safety indicators, expressed the proposal for Uzbekistan to join other major UN conventions in this area.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue the dialogue on strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area.
