Senate hosts the First Meeting of the Commission on Cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva held the first meeting of the Senate Commission of the Oliy Majlis on Cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.

According to the upper house of parliament, the parties discussed the implementation of several practical action plans, approved by the Presidential Resolution of December 28, 2021 “On measures for further deepening the special strategic partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea”.

The volume of South Korean investments in Uzbekistan exceeded $7 billion. These funds are used to implement joint projects in the chemical, petrochemical, textile, construction and agricultural sectors.

Thanks to fruitful cooperation with the Export-Import Bank and the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (ECDF) of the Republic of Korea, the amount of financing investment projects in Uzbekistan has reached $1 billion.

The parties discussed the implementation of 3 practical action plans approved by the Resolution of the President of Uzbekistan of December 28, 2021, including 23 tasks, the implementation of which was scheduled for January this year.

Current tasks were identified for organizing the Year of Mutual Exchanges, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the introduction of the “Electronic Parliament” mechanism into the activities of the Senate based on the experience of the South Korean Parliament.

Following the meeting, the relevant decision of the Commission was adopted.
