Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Our people are rightfully proud of their patriotic youth

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev of September 27, a group of athletes and coaches of the country who achieved high results at the World Boxing Championships in Russia’s Yekaterinburg was awarded honorary titles and medals.

The award ceremony took place on September 30. The event was attended by representatives of state and public organizations, heads of sports federations, parents of boxers.

All conditions have been created in Uzbekistan for self-realization of youth and sports development. The Concept for Development of Physical Culture and Mass Sports for 2019-2023 is being consistently implemented. New sports facilities are being commissioned at places, a healthy lifestyle is being actively adopted among young people. Necessary conditions are created for training professional athletes and continuous improvement of their skills.

At the meeting held on September 4 this year, chaired by the head of the state, additional measures were identified to develop physical education and sports, strengthen preparations for international competitions.

Since then, representatives of Uzbekistan participated in several tournaments and achieved great success. In particular, on September 14-22, at the World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan, the national team of Uzbekistan took the second place, having won 4 medals. In addition, winners from Uzbekistan received licenses to participate in 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

On September 20-25, Tashkent hosted Judo Grand Prix tournament. Athletes from 71 countries competed in 14 weight categories. Uzbekistan team took the second place with 6 medals.

World Boxing Championships, held on September 6-22 in Yekaterinburg, became even more successful for Uzbekistan’s athletes. At this tournament, with participation of the strongest masters of leather gloves from about 80 countries, Uzbekistan team won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in uncompromising struggle. Uzbekistan’s athletes took the first place in the team event leaving behind boxers from the United States, Cuba, Russia, Kazakhstan, England, India. And the team captain Bakhodir Jalolov has been recognized as the best boxer of the championship.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the athletes, their coaches and mentors, all people on the historic victory of the national boxing team.

“High courage and perseverance you showed at the championship, the great victory you have achieved are worthy of all praise and admiration. In those days, all our people wished you good luck and watched the championship on Yekaterinburg arena with great excitement and interest. Our country is rightfully proud of you, its brave and patriotic youth, who justified this high confidence”, the Head of the state noted.

It was noted that this is the result of excellent preparation – not only physical, but also moral, spiritual, and that such high victory is achieved by those who worthily continue the work of Jaloliddin Manguberdi, Amir Temur, Pakhlavon Makhmud and our other great ancestors.

The President expressed gratitude to parents, dedicated coaches and mentors who brought up such heroes.

As it is known, at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Uzbekistan boxers also won the first place in the team event. And the results of the last World Championships clearly showed that Uzbekistan is literally becoming a boxing power.

“This victory inscribed the words “Uzbek Boxing School”, “Boxers of Uzbekistan” in golden letters in the history of world sports. Now everyone has to recognize and respect the strength of our country’s boxers, the Uzbek boxing school. From now on, the words “Uzbekistan”, “Uzbek” can alert even the most powerful rivals”, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Head of the state named and congratulated each athlete who became the winner, as well as their coaches. These achievements, as noted, laid a solid foundation for successful performance at the upcoming next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo. It is necessary to obtain more licenses and carefully prepare for this prestigious championships.

The President solemnly presented the highest awards of the Motherland to boxers and their mentors.

“All our efforts are aimed at making people happy, and youth harmoniously developed. Your triumph is another proof that if there is justice in every sphere, if talents from even the most remote villages can realize themselves, then the result will be felt. This is a signal to all our youth: set high goals, work on yourself, achieve high success”, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Boxers, their parents and mentors thanked the Head of the state for the high attention paid to development of sports, encouraging athletes and coaches.
