Tashkent hosts EU – Central Asia High-Level Dialogue

Yesterday, Tashkent hosted the regular meeting of the European Union – Central Asia High-level Dialogue on Political and Security Issues at the level of deputy foreign ministers, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Uzbekistan MFA, the European delegation was led by Deputy-Secretary General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora. Afghanistan delegation also attended the meeting.

The results of the implementation of previously reached agreements within the framework of interregional cooperation, as well as the schedule and agenda of upcoming events at various levels in the EU – Central Asia format were discussed at the event.

Issues of interaction in the border management, countering drug trafficking and organized crime, as well as regional environmental problems were considered.

Participants exchanged views on cooperation in foreign policy and security in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

The annual meetings of the High-Level Dialogue between the EU and Central Asia have been held since 2013.
