Tehran hosts Uzbekistan – Iran Political Consultations

Tehran hosted the sixth round of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Uzbekistan and Iran.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the delegations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in various formats, exchanged views on certain international and regional issues.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Iran have significant potential for further development of cooperation.

Proposals on the schedule and agenda of upcoming joint events at various levels and in formats were considered, in particular, the 14th meeting of Uzbekistan – Iran Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

Mutual interest was expressed in deepening trade, economic, investment, transport and communication ties.

The parties noted the emerging positive trends in the development of interstate relations, including within the framework of the UN, SCO, and the Economic Cooperation Organization.

The head of Uzbekistan delegation conveyed to the Iranian side the official invitation to the upcoming High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” to be held in Tashkent.
