The Assembly – international recognition of the development of parliamentarism in the New Uzbekistan

The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov met with a delegation led by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Trần Thanh Mẫn.

The consistent development of Uzbekistan – Vietnam cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres was emphasized at the beginning of the conversation. The guests were informed about the structural constitution of the Legislative Chamber, its legislative activities, and the main tasks of the Chamber’s committees and commissions.

Trần Thanh Mẫn highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s effective and open foreign policy in relations with the international community and noted the comprehensive benefits of further expanding and strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, which is an essential factor in the development of bilateral ties. He also stressed that the 150th IPU Assembly, which is taking place in Tashkent these days, is not only a significant socio-political and historical event for the country, but also an international recognition of irreversible reforms in the New Uzbekistan, especially achievements in the development of parliamentarism.

Prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Vietnam, including interparliamentary cooperation, were discussed, and the need for effective use of public diplomacy opportunities was noted at the meeting.
