The Chairperson of the Senate holds talks with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office

On October 1, The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva has held virtual talks with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the upper house of parliament, the current issues of the development of constructive interaction of Uzbekistan with the OSCE, further expansion of Uzbekistan – Sweden practical cooperation were discussed.

Ann Linde highly appreciated and supported the democratic transformations and socio-economic reforms carried out at the new stage in Uzbekistan, as well as the dynamically developing relations between Uzbekistan and the OSCE. It was emphasized that in recent years a breakthrough has been achieved in bilateral relations thanks to the open and balanced policy of Uzbekistan leadership to strengthen international and regional cooperation.

It was noted with satisfaction that the full-scale mission of the OSCE/ODIHR and the high level of the delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will take part in the upcoming presidential elections, which testifies to the special attention of the organization.

The interest of the Swedish Parliament in participating in the elections as international observers was also expressed.

Key areas of cooperation in education, attracting innovations and investments of leading Swedish companies to Uzbekistan, building up trade ties and strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation were also considered.
