The construction of Al-Khwarizmi town launched

On August 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a capsule in the foundation of the Al-Khwarizmi town in Urgench.

The Head of the state got acquainted with this project during a trip to the region in March this year and gave instructions on its improvement. It is symbolic that the implementation of the revised project starts these days – on the eve of Independence Day.

The ceremony was attended by Khorezm elders, women and youth. The President talked to them.

“All the achievements of modern science and electronics originate in the unprecedentedly important scientific heritage of our ancestor Al-Khwarizmi. We should not only be proud, but also be worthy of it. Therefore, we decided to create a town named after the great scientist in the city of Urgench”, the Head of the state said.

The town will be built next to Urgench International Airport, on an area of more than 130 hectares. This beautiful place will be the first thing that will appear before the eyes of passengers getting off the plane. A majestic monument to Al-Khwarizmi will be erected in the center of the city.

A new university named after Al-Khwarizmi will also be established here. A specialized school for gifted children will be built at this university. Its graduates will continue the traditions of our great ancestors in the future, working in the centers of science, innovation and culture created in the city.

A technopark and offices, medical and cultural institutions, alleys, schools and kindergartens, sports complexes, parking lots, shopping and household facilities will also appear in the town. 104 houses for 5 thousand apartments will be built. The facilities will be equipped with smart technologies.

The Head of the state congratulated the builders of the complex on Independence Day and wished them success in their responsible and honorable activities.
