The draft Constitution was carefully finalized in the process of studying public opinion

A Press Conference by the OSCE/ODIHR, dedicated to the preliminary results of the referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event was attended by the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission Albert Jónsson, and his deputy Lusine Badalyan.

“The referendum was technically well-prepared and widely promoted as intending to enhance various rights and freedoms”, said the Head of the mission Albert Jónsson. – The consultation process on the draft amendments was overall comprehensive.

Representatives of the mission noted that the proposed amendments contribute to strengthening gender equality, increasing the social obligations of the state to citizens and vulnerable groups of the population. The constitutional reform process was adequately long, and a significant number of the proposals were taken into consideration.
