The experience of South Korean higher education system to be studied

The Head of the state visited Korea International University in Fergana.

This educational institution was established in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of August 23, 2019. Education is provided here on a fee and contract basis according to advanced curricula and programs in Uzbek, Korean and English.

The University is designed for 4 thousand students. 720 boys and girls graduated from the first course in the final academic year. 11 experienced teachers from South Korea have been invited, and in the future the number of Korean teachers will reach 43.

This year, a new building was built for this international education institution. More than $10 million of foreign investment was attracted for this purpose.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke with the University’s Rector, Park Joon Ho and Korean teachers. The President inquired about curriculum and content of education, students’ progress.

The University provides education in humanitarian and technical-engineering specialties. In particular, tourism management, pre-school education, management and computerized accounting, Korean language and literature are taught here. The institution also trains qualified specialists in mechanical, automotive, electrical and electronics engineering, architectural design, computer, energy and chemical engineering.

– At the first courses, students study general subjects, repeat school program, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. – Young people miss a year of their life, even lose interest in studying. The situation is different in developed countries, where the first year begins with the disciplines of specialty, and practice has an important place. The difference in the result is shown by life itself.

In this regard, officials have been instructed to review higher education system in Uzbekistan, having studied the curricula of South Korean universities, to orient students on the practical component.
