Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting on measures to accelerate the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization, reports “Dunyo” IA
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad. The participants discussed further joint steps, as well as measures to prepare for the 6th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov informed the participants about the work carried out for the accession to the WTO and introduced them to the priority tasks to accelerate this process in 2023. The importance of accelerating the activities of the country’s diplomatic missions abroad was emphasized. The ambassadors of the country were explained the main directions for further work on the implementation of the tasks set by the government. The need to intensify bilateral negotiations on access to the market of goods and services with all WTO member countries and the signing of relevant protocols on their completion to accelerate the country’s accession to the WTO was noted.
Following the meeting, it was decided to hold meetings of this format on a regular basis to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of interaction, to constantly analyze the results of joint work, as well as to exchange ideas on further accelerating the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
