The Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Yesterday, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Farkhod Arziyev met with the Head of the Election Observation Mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) Eoghan Murphy, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ODIHR were discussed at the meeting.

The successful cooperation in the implementation of the Bureau’s recommendations, including within the framework of improving the Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was emphasized.

The parties expressed interest in further long-term and fruitful partnership, primarily in human rights, freedom of speech, religion and belief, gender equality, youth support, development of civil society institutions, strengthening the legal framework for ongoing democratic reforms based on international best practices.

The main attention was paid to the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign institutions of the country to assist in the implementation of the constitutional rights of citizens of Uzbekistan who are abroad, including the creation of the possibility of online registration for participation in elections, and other practical measures.
