The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan meets with the Ambassador of Romania

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received the Ambassador of Romania Daniel Christian Ciobanu, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, current issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed, the results of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian spheres in 2022 were summed up, and priority areas of cooperation for 2023 were identified at the meeting.

The Ambassador stressed that the Romanian side highly appreciates the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, which give impetus to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

It was noted that, despite the observed positive growth rate of foreign economic indicators, the current volume of trade does not correspond to the existing potentials of the two countries. In this context, the parties exchanged views on improving joint mechanisms of economic diplomacy, in particular by resuming the activities of the Uzbekistan – Romania Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Proposals on increasing inter-parliamentary dialogue, implementation of projects in healthcare, mechanical engineering and chemical industry were discussed.

Mutual interest was expressed in enhancing the contractual and legal framework of interstate relations.
