The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed issues of interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations

Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the foreign ministers discussed the current state and prospects for further intensification of Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan relations in political, trade-economic, transport-communication, water management, cultural-humanitarian and other areas.

Issues of interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations were considered.

Special attention was paid to the current situation in Central Asia, ongoing joint work on further development of regional cooperation and opening opportunities to reach a new interregional level of interconnectedness.

The Minister invited the Turkmen side to the high-level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, to be held this year in Tashkent.

A program of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for 2021-2022 was signed following the event.
