The possibilities of fully utilizing the transit potential of Uzbekistan and Pakistan studied

During the visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to Pakistan on December 26-27, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjayev held several meetings and negotiations with the heads of key ministries, agencies and representatives of the business community of Pakistan, reports “Dunyo” IA

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, in particular, meetings were held with the Federal Minister for Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Syed Naveed Qamar, Federal Secretary of Commerce Muhammad Sualeh Ahmad Faruqui, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique.

The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation such as the adoption and further implementation of a joint program to bring trade turnover to $1 billion, coordination and ensuring the entry into force of the Preferential Trade Agreement, active use of the existing Transit Trade Agreement. An agreement was reached on taking concrete measures for the practical implementation of investment projects in the textile industry, in the production of building materials, mineral fertilizers, household appliances, housing construction, scientific and technical sphere and tourism with a total value of over $500 million, as well as mutual supplies of chemical products.

The Pakistani side expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to the discussed initiatives.

Following the dialogue, the Uzbek side expressed readiness to provide comprehensive support in the implementation of joint investment projects and initiatives.
