The President of Uzbekistan and the Chancellor of Germany exchanged views on the situation in the region in the context of the course of events in Afghanistan

Yesterday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the head of our state, during the talks, the leaders considered the current issues on the bilateral agenda and exchanged views on the situation in the region in the context of the course of events in Afghanistan.

The coincidence of the positions and approaches of the two countries in preventing the escalation of tension and violence in this country, as well as the comprehensive support by the international community for a political settlement of the Afghan conflict was noted.

The importance of continuing close coordination and active interdepartmental interaction in the implementation of humanitarian operations to evacuate citizens by air from Afghanistan to Germany in transit through the territory of Uzbekistan was emphasized.

An agreement was reached to maintain regular contacts at the highest levels on the further development of the situation in the region.
