The President of Uzbekistan expresses satisfaction with the dynamics of cooperation development with Saudi Arabian companies

The issues of enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation with leading companies of Saudi Arabia were discussed at a meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Co-Chairman of Uzbekistan – Saudi Arabia Business Council, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power Mohammad Abunayyan.

The President of Uzbekistan noted with deep satisfaction the dynamic development of a fruitful partnership with ACWA Power, a strategic investor in green energy in Uzbekistan. To date, 4 projects worth about $3 billion have been successfully implemented, and the portfolio of current projects is $15 billion.

In addition, a ceremony to launch several joint projects was held today: 2 wind power plants with a capacity of 500 megawatts each were connected to the grid in Bukhara region, and the construction of 2 solar power plants with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt in Samarkand region and an energy storage system with a capacity of 334 megawatts in Tashkent region was launched.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to implementing cooperation projects in the modernization of energy, transport, and utilities infrastructure, development of information and communication technologies, textile industry, agriculture, and other priority areas.

The importance of expanding work to attract leading Saudi companies to Uzbekistan as part of the activities of the joint Business Council was noted.
