The President of Uzbekistan got acquainted with the presentation on the surgical service transformation and measures for transplantology development

Yesterday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation on the surgical service transformation, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the head of our state, an average of 750 thousand surgical operations are performed every year in Uzbekistan. As a result of the introduction of advanced achievements of world medicine and the creation of the necessary conditions, the number of types of operations carried out in the republican centers increased to 350, in regional centers – up to 130, in district hospitals – up to 60. Modern departments of endovascular surgery have been organized in 32 hospitals.

The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov is the basic institution in this direction, has 14 branches in the regions.

The presentation provides information on the scientific and medical potential of the center, the results of examinations in the regions.

The State program, adopted in the Year of Supporting Youth and Improving Population Health, provided for the creation of 35 inter-district centers for combined injuries and acute vascular diseases based on district and city medical associations. To this end, on July 26 this year, the President adopted a resolution “On measures to further improve the quality of medical care provided to the population”.

Gradual work is underway to organize these centers. Each of them will have 50 beds. Modern centers will allow conducting high-tech operations in the districts themselves.

At the presentation, the work carried out was considered on the example of the hospital of Oqoltin district of Syrdarya region, which serves the residents of Oqoltin, Sardoba and Mirzaabad districts. In accordance with a presidential resolution, $1 million worth of equipment was recently installed in the center. Currently, telemedicine sessions are being organized, the qualifications of doctors are being improved.

The Head of the state noted that the number of types of operations carried out in inter-district centers can be increased to 79, and in the regional – up to 168, instructed the responsible persons to create the necessary conditions for this.

One of the most demanded areas today is organ transplantation. In recent years, special attention has been paid to this area, a legal and organizational base is being created. In particular, in the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid, a new building is being built for the departments of cardiac surgery, transplantology and neurovascular surgery.

In Uzbekistan, 500 patients need liver transplantation, 1500 people need kidney transplantation. Insufficient equipment of surgical departments, lack of qualified specialists, lack of laboratories for immunogenetic research negatively affect the development of the sphere.

In this regard, it is planned to focus the Republican Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery on transplantation with the creation of an immunogenetic laboratory and a simulation center in it, as well as to organize kidney transplantation operations in Namangan, Samarkand and Khorezm regions.

The President emphasized the need for training specialists in the field of diagnostics, surgery and treatment based on advanced technologies, organizing advanced training in leading medical institutions abroad.

The Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate the necessary funds for these purposes, to introduce a system of differentiated remuneration for transplant surgeons.
