The President of Uzbekistan meets with the Premier of the State Council of China

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev began his state visit to the People’s Republic of China by meeting with the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People.

Issues of further enhancing multifaceted practical interaction, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, were considered.

It was emphasized that thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the two countries’ leaders, relations between Uzbekistan and China have reached an unprecedented level in all areas and directions.

Last year, trade turnover increased by 50 percent, reaching $14 billion. The potential for increasing this figure to $20 billion, including growing mutual supplies of high-quality agricultural and industrial goods, was noted. The total volume of Chinese investments in the Uzbekistan economy exceeded $14 billion.

The issues of preparing separate cooperation programs in infrastructure modernization, enhancing industrial cooperation, technology transfer in agriculture, and green energy development were discussed.

The prospects for deepening practical interaction with leading banking and financial institutions in China and the participation of Chinese companies in the privatization processes in Uzbekistan were also considered.

The results of the first Uzbekistan – China Forum of Regions and Industrial Exhibition, held on January 22 in Urumqi city, were highly appreciated.

The successful holding of an educational forum and the Uzbek Culture Days in China these days was noted. The parties spoke in favor of expanding air traffic and tourist exchanges.

In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan invited the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China to visit Uzbekistan.
