Tribute paid to the memory of the First President of Uzbekistan

On September 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the Islam Karimov Monument in Tashkent and paid tribute to the blessed memory of the First President of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the resolution of 25 January 2017, September 2 was declared as the Day of Remembrance of the First President. Respect for the history of the country, honoring Islam Karimov’s merits serves to increase the spirituality of our people, especially youth.

In his speech at the festive event dedicated to the twenty-ninth anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the achievement of state independence under the leadership of the First President was an event of exceptional significance that made the centuries-old dream come true.

Surahs from the Quran were recited at the Islam Karimov Scientific and Enlightenment Memorial Complex.

Members of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Presidential Administration, Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and other government agencies, the public of the capital also laid flowers at the monument.

Similar ceremonies have also taken place at Islam Karimov monuments in Samarkand and Karshi.
