Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Austria Abat Fayzullayev has presented his credentials as Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Vienna to the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director-General of the UN Office at Vienna (UNODC) Ghada Fathi Waly, reports IA “Dunyo” correspondent.
The UN Executive Director noted with satisfaction the dynamically developing and strengthening partnership of the United Nations and its structures with Uzbekistan.
She stressed that UNODC considers Uzbekistan as a strategic and important partner in Central Asia and attaches great importance to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, transnational crime and international terrorism.
Ghada Fathi Waly praised President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly. She noted that statements of the Head of the state on successful implementation of the UN Global Counter Terrorism Strategy, Uzbekistan’s efforts to fight corruption, the country’s participation in maintaining peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as a number of important initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable development of the region and the world as a whole, are of particular importance for UNODC.
The parties stressed their interest in continuing to work together effectively to reduce drug use and trafficking, fight against organized crime and international terrorism.
