Uzbek Language and Culture Center named after Alisher Navoi to open in Azerbaijan

The delegation of Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, led by Rector Shukhrat Sirojiddinov, at the invitation of the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Isa Habibbayli, took part in a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi and several other events.

During the trip, the TSUULL Rector attended the presentation of Mahmud Kashgari’s book “Divan Lugat at-Turk”, prepared for publication by the scientific team of the Imomiddin Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The publication is based on a text translated into Azerbaijani by Khalid Saidkhojayev, a Jadid of Uzbek origin, in 1937.

It should be noted that this translation of Saidkhojayev remained unknown for almost 100 years. Its discovery is the result of long scientific research. Mr. Sirojiddinov, on behalf of the Uzbek intelligentsia, congratulated the institute’s staff on this success, expressing confidence that the publication will give impetus to new research in world Turkology.

Uzbek scientists led by Academician Mr. Sirojiddinov took part in a scientific conference held in the city of Ganja timed to the 115th anniversary of the birth of the Azerbaijani scholar, honored scientist of Azerbaijan Hamid Arasli and presented scientific reports.

A meeting of the delegation from Uzbekistan with local scientists and intellectuals took place in the Ganja Regional Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The sides exchanged views on the development of cooperation with Ganja University, Ganja Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, and Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. Following the meeting, an agreement was signed to open the Uzbek Language and Culture Center named after Alisher Navoi in Ganja.
