From May 5 to 7, the 3rd International Oud Forum, titled "One Oud, Many Cultures", will be held at the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy in the United Arab Emirates, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The forum aims to foster cultural cooperation. It will feature oud players and musicians from various countries, including Morocco (the country of expertise), Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Oman, Iraq, and Spain.
It is worth noting that a memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy and the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. In September 2024, Ali Obaid AL Hefaiti, the director of the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, along with a group of musicians, visited Uzbekistan and organized a major concert event with renowned musicians and groups.
This year, leading faculty members and students from the Uzbek State Conservatory have been officially invited to participate in the forum organized by the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy. This collaboration directly contributes to the development of musical arts in Uzbekistan and other countries.
The Uzbek delegation will be represented by the coordinator from Uzbekistan, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and Innovations of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, Professor Sayyora Gafurova. The Uzbek team includes Dilyara Islamova, Senior Lecturer of the Special Piano Department at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and Doctor of Arts, along with a group of musicians. The group comprises Bahodir Mirpoyazov, Professor of the Folk Instrument Performance Department at the Uzbek State Conservatory, Professor Ruzibi Khojaeva, festival laureate Professor Ilkhom Ikramov, and students of the conservatory Abdurakhmon Sharipov, Asadbek Khommatov, and Abrorbek Inomzhonov.
At the opening ceremony of the event, an orchestra of 50 musicians from various nationalities will perform a musical program that includes a variety of musical styles, such as Indian, Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Turkish, Spanish flamenco, rock music, and Arabic Eastern music. Throughout the forum, both solo and group performances will take place.
Ali Obaid AL Hefaiti, Director of the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, stated that the forum reflects the academy’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and cooperation between peoples through music.
The goal of the event is to enhance the artistic presence of the Emirate of Fujairah on the international stage and to highlight the importance of the oud as a symbol of cultural diversity and a bridge of communication between civilizations. The 3rd International Oud Forum in Fujairah is a unique project and platform that combines musical performance, cultural exchange, and will undoubtedly enrich both the local and international artistic scene.
