Uzbekistan and Canada are considering prospects for expanding cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov received Ambassador of Canada to Uzbekistan Alison Mary LeClaire, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the MIFT Uzbekistan, the most pressing issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, investment and trade-economic spheres were discussed at the meeting.

The parties focused on the development of mutual trade. It was stressed that in 2021, Uzbekistan – Canadian trade turnover increased by 40 percent, in connection with which the parties agreed to develop concrete proposals for diversification and increasing mutual supplies.

The parties also discussed the progress of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization, the participation of the Canadian side in the implementation of projects and programs within the framework of the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region, issues of establishing close ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between the regions of the two countries, in particular, between Tashkent region and Ontario province, Navoi region and Quebec province, as well as Kashkadarya region and Alberta province.
