A roundtable discussion on “Current issues of regional cooperation in Central Asia, expanding the dialogue between Uzbekistan and the European Union” took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Paris.
The event was organized by the Development Strategy Center with the support of the Institute for European Perspective and Security Studies.
Uzbekistan was represented by such leading analytical institutions as the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the International Institute for Central Asia, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Center for Foreign Policy Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The participants discussed current trends in Central Asia, bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and France, and the first official summit in the “Central Asia + European Union” format scheduled for 2025 in Samarkand.
In particular, IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov noted that today, the Central Asian countries are demonstrating an increasing desire to strengthen cooperation and joint development. In this context, special emphasis was placed on the annual Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which have become a significant platform for constructive dialogue.
In turn, President of the Institute for European Perspective and Security Studies (IPSE) Emmanuel Dupuy emphasized Uzbekistan’s key role in these regional processes, praising the country’s open and balanced foreign policy aimed at developing multifaceted relations with neighboring countries, as well as strengthening security and mutual trust within the region. According to him, significant changes in Uzbekistan create conditions for closer cooperation in the region and the opening of new opportunities for collaboration.
Following the event, the importance of establishing a dialogue between Uzbekistan and France analytical centers to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation was emphasized.
