Zulfiya Israilova was born on March 1, 1915, in Tashkent. In her childhood, she loved poetry, tried to write poems. From the beginning of her career, she realized that “poems are made of poetry when thousands of human hearts recognize them as their own. That is why the heart always in the way”.
It is worth noting that Zulfiya’s poetry is diverse. Over the years, it was enriched, shimmering with new colors, themes, images. Her favorite image, which had passed through all her works, was the image of spring. Zulfiya’ s poetry is covered with reverent love for nature and people as an integral, higher parts of nature. In her poems, nature appears in bright colours and images.
One of the dominant themes in her poetry is the theme of work. She sang cotton grower and worker, engineer and scientist, who give their power for the good of the country.
Thanks largely to the creativity and selfless work of outstanding Uzbek poetess Zulfiya, the domestic literature in the twentieth century was replenished with a new so-called “feminine” literary tradition. To this day, her heartfelt lyrics are winning the hearts of millions of readers around the world.
In 1999 Uzbekistan established a State award named after Zulfiya, which is awarded for achievements in literature, art, science, culture and education of the gifted girls aged 14 to 22 years annually on the eve of International Women’s Day on 8 March.
