Uzbekistan delegation attends “Republic of Korea – Central Asia” Cooperation Forum

On October 16, 2019, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the 12th “Republic of Korea – Central Asia” Cooperation Forum in the city of Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

Heads of Foreign Ministries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea discussed priority areas for further development of cooperation within the multilateral format, as well as prospects for strengthening this mechanism of multifaceted dialogue.

In his speech at the Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan noted the need for implementation of targeted projects and programs that will give greater specificity to the activities of this format and will serve the steady growth of the economy and production potential of the countries of the region in the interests of all participating states.

It was emphasized that the study and implementation of innovative developments of the South Korean side in the field of technical standardization, water resources management, ICT training, development of startup projects, as well as the exchange of experience in youth policy and gender equality are important for all Central Asian countries.

The head of Uzbekistan delegation informed the forum participants about the goals and objectives of Uzbekistan’s Strategy for transition to a green economy for 2019-2030, approved by the Decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on October 4, and in this context noted that the country is interested in establishing partnership and joint implementation of projects in the areas of introducing environmentally friendly technologies into the production and rational use of natural resources.
