On November 25, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva addressed the International Conference “Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goals” as part of the Autumn Session of the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS Member States in Saint Petersburg, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to the upper house of Parliament, the plenary session was opened by the Chairman of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matviyenko, noting the relevance of the event, identified three components in the fight against COVID-19 – free access to vaccines, improving the efficiency of response in case of emergencies and the widest possible coverage of the population with health services.
The conference was attended by the heads of parliamentary delegations of the IPA CIS, the leadership of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
The Chairperson of the Upper House of Parliament Tanzila Narbayeva, noted the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to improve the level of healthcare. She emphasized that the country is ready to share its experience in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals on healthcare. In addition, the head of the Senate also expressed interest in studying the best practices of partner countries in developing preventive measures, including combating the spread of infectious and hereditary diseases. Mrs. Tanzila Narbayeva also proposed to hold a forum on the problem of universal health coverage, taking into account its relevance, regularly.
