Uzbekistan elected Chair of the UNWTO General Assembly and a member of Committees

Uzbekistan delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ulugbek Agzamov is participating in the 68th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe in Sofia, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

Within the framework of the meeting, Sofia hosts elections to several competent bodies of the organization. Following the results of the polls, Uzbekistan was recognized as the winner in three nominations.

In particular, the international organization granted Uzbekistan the authority to preside over the upcoming 25th-anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand.

Delegating these official powers, the UNWTO leadership and members highlighted the preparatory work by Uzbekistan to hold the 25th-anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly, as well as the reforms carried out in the country for the development of tourism.

Uzbekistan was also admitted to the Credentials Committee of the UNWTO Executive Council for the next term – 2023-2027. This means that Uzbekistan has the authority to monitor compliance with the principles and legality of the participation of Member States in important decisions and documents adopted by the UNWTO Executive Council.

In addition, Uzbekistan was elected to the UNWTO Affiliated Members Committee for 2023-2027. This committee, which includes more than 500 private organizations and associations in tourism worldwide, opens up great opportunities for Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that on October 16-20, 2013, Samarkand will host the 25th anniversary Session of the UNWTO General Assembly.
