Uzbekistan – EU: Towards Further Strengthening Cooperation

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva has met with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala.

The parties discussed strengthening relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union, which have demonstrated stable positive dynamics and are reaching a new level of interaction in recent years.

Particular attention was paid to issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation, human rights protection, security, environmental protection, and gender equality promotion.

The parties also discussed empowering women, including within the framework of the regional platform – the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia. The importance of the Asian Women’s Forum as an international platform for exchanging experiences and promoting gender equality in the region was noted.

The parties also discussed strengthening interaction between the Central Asian states and the European Union, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation to ensure stability and sustainable development.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue active dialogue and jointly implement the planned activities to deepen the partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
