Uzbekistan, European Parliament enhance cooperation

The Head of Uzbekistan Mission to the European Union Dilyor Khakimov has met with MEP Ryszard Czarnecki, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, negotiation progress on the development of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement of the country with the EU, issue of obtaining the status of a beneficiary of GSP+system and joining the WTO.

The progress made within the framework of the negotiations on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and GSP+ was noted, hope for the early completion of this process and readiness to support Uzbekistan’s efforts to join the WTO was expressed at the meeting.

It was noted that the early resolution of the discussed issues will bring cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on several joint events in Brussels, including a plan of contacts for the future.
