On 26-27 February 2022, the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Vice President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Akmal Saidov spoke at a regular meeting of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Dubai (UAE). This has been reported by the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, issues related to the preparations for the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held this year in Indonesia were considered. Confidence was expressed that the upcoming conference will be of great importance in terms of ensuring democracy and promoting inter-parliamentary dialogue throughout the world.
Issues of further measures concerning climate change at the international level, prospects for enhancing the role of parliamentarians of the countries of the world are planned to be discussed at the event.
The participants of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union considered the political project of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the UN.
At the meeting of the Executive Committee, the report of the Working Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on Transparency, Accountability and Openness was also heard.
The report of this working group was supported by the participants. It was noted that this structure and its report will be useful for the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in strengthening transparency, accountability and openness in its work, and will help to adhere to these principles even more strictly.
The draft Communication Strategy of the Inter-Parliamentary Union for 2022-2026 was also considered at the meeting.
