Uzbekistan's Diplomatic Missions in the United States take active measures to return Uzbekistan citizens to the country

In connection with sharp spread of coronavirus in the United States, the introduction of emergency state and suspension of Uzbekistan Airways regular flights on New York – Tashkent air route, at the operational headquarters of the Embassy in Washington and Consulate General in New York, hotlines are constantly operating for round-the-clock communication with Uzbekistan citizens and ensuring timely provision of detailed information and rapid returning of citizens to Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Within the framework of this work, with the assistance of the Embassy in Washington, from March 16 to 20, six citizens of Uzbekistan who were in the United States were sent to Istanbul (Turkey) for further transportation by charter flight to Uzbekistan.

In addition, Uzbekistan diplomatic mission in cooperation with Russian Consulate General in Havana assisted in departure of two Uzbekistan citizens to Turkey, who are in Cuba in tourist group.

In order to quickly resolve visa extension issues for Uzbekistan citizens temporarily staying in the United States, the Embassy is actively negotiating with the State Department and American Immigration Lawyers.

Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions are in constant contact with diaspora organizations of Uzbekistan citizens and community activists in the United States and Canada to identify facts of possible infection of our compatriots with coronavirus and provide them with timely practical assistance.

Also, in order to create a diagnostic set of reagents for detecting coronavirus, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington delivered samples of test systems produced by Genscript to the Center for Advanced Technologies under the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan for Laboratory Research on Detecting Coronavirus. These tests, which have passed approval of Centers for Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases of the United States, are planned to be used in organization of production of domestic analogues.

At the same time, the Embassy is also negotiating with manufacturers of rapid tests – Biomedomics and US Inc., as well as medical laboratory of Washington University for their delivery to Uzbekistan. The US Inc. specializing in implementation, development and production of innovative diagnostic tools together with leading laboratories in the United States, China, South Korea and Turkey expressed readiness to provide medical institutions of Uzbekistan with necessary sets of test systems for detecting coronavirus.
