Uzbekistan's First Deputy FM meets with the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Farkhod Arziyev has met with Alexey Gromov, OSCE/ODIHR Senior Election Adviser.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the OSCE/ODIHR delegation was informed about the fundamental reforms being carried out in the country, including measures to ensure the rule of law, freedom of speech and press, protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, promotion of gender equality, the development of youth, as well as improvement of electoral legislation based on generally recognized international standards.

The OSCE/ODIHR delegation will hold meetings in the Oliy Majlis, the Supreme Court, the Central Election Commission, ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, with leaders of political parties and civil society representatives.
