Uzbekistan's FM meets with Emir of Qatar

On 11 April 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov was received by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in Doha, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The Minister conveyed the message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The current state and prospects for the development of Uzbekistan – Qatar relations were discussed. Views were exchanged on the current aspects of cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Qatar have significant potential for further development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation.

The parties stressed the intensification of bilateral political dialogue, as well as the need for significantly increasing cooperation in the trade-economic and investment spheres.

The importance of promoting inclusive inter-Afghan negotiations for the establishment of long-term peace and security in Afghanistan was noted.

The Qatari side highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts to support the peace process in the IRA.

Other issues on the bilateral agenda were also discussed during the talks.
