Uzbekistan's FM receives the newly appointed Ambassador of Vatican

On October 6, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican to Uzbekistan (with residence in Moscow) Archbishop Giovanni d’Aniello, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Accepting the credentials, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a responsible post and noted that Uzbekistan and Vatican have accumulated positive experience of a partnership aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between peoples of different nationalities and faiths.

The parties expressed mutual interest in further strengthening and activating interfaith dialogue at various levels.

The Apostolic Nuncio got acquainted with the work carried out in Uzbekistan to strengthen interethnic harmony and religious tolerance, to fully protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, including in the spiritual sphere.

Giovanni d’Aniello is 66 years old. He previously served as Apostolic Nuncio to Brazil, served in Congo, and then was Apostolic Nuncio to Cambodia and Thailand and Apostolic delegate to Laos and Myanmar.
