A delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by the Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Umida Tukhtasheva, participated in the 16th session of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption Review Mechanism, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the session, key issues regarding the improvement of the review mechanism, increasing the transparency of reporting, and introducing new formats for assessing the implementation of anti-corruption measures were discussed. Special attention was given to the need to shift from legislative analysis to evaluating the actual practices of combating corruption.
Uzbekistan provided information on its participation in the second cycle of the Convention’s review and shared its successful experience in establishing the Central Asian Regional Anti-Corruption Platform, which brings together the anti-corruption bodies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
In her speech, Umida Tukhtasheva emphasized Uzbekistan’s commitment to international anti-corruption standards and the ongoing reforms in the country.
The outcomes of the session underscored the importance of international cooperation in the fight against corruption and the need for further improvement of the mechanisms for implementing the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
