Uzbekistan to host Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament

On September 6, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva attended the Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Member Countries, organized by the Austrian Parliament jointly with the United Nations, in Vienna.

At the event, a decision was taken to hold the 14th Summit of Women Speakers of the Parliament 2022 in Uzbekistan. This is a recognition by the international community of the results achieved by Uzbekistan in the development of parliamentarism, gender policy, and reforms carried out in the democratization of society.

Participants discussed issues related to increasing women’s political activism, as well as addressing the consequences of the pandemic and women’s participation in the reconstruction of countries after the pandemic.
