Uzbekistan to host the SCO Summit

The events of the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 15-16 September, in the city of Samarkand.

The summit will be attended by the leaders of the SCO member states – the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the observer states – the Republic of Belarus, the Islamic Republic Iran and Mongolia.

The heads of the Republic of Türkiye, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia, as well as the heads of the United Nations and other authoritative international and regional organizations are invited as guests of honor.

Current issues of further building up multilateral cooperation, practical aspects and priority tasks for the development of the SCO will be considered by the agenda of the Samarkand Summit. Views will be exchanged on international and regional issues.

Following the event, it is planned to adopt a solid package of documents to expand the activities of the Organization and deepen regional cooperation in priority areas.

It should be noted that the upcoming meeting will be the first face-to-face meeting of the SCO leaders in the last three years since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

The event will also complete the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Organization, within which more than 80 major events were held.
