Today, during his official visit to Japan, President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Masakazu Sekiguchi, the president of the House of Councillors of Japan’s Parliament, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, during the meeting the significant role of parliaments in promoting the Uzbek-Japanese strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation, was noted. Representatives of the House of Councillors actively participated in the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent in April this year.

Particular attention was paid to supporting youth parliamentary initiatives, including holding the Forum of Young Parliamentarians of Uzbekistan and Japan and the participation of the Japanese delegation in the Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Samarkand in 2026.

The importance of comprehensive parliamentary assistance in the practical implementation of high-level agreements has been emphasized, particularly in expanding trade, economic, financial, investment, technological, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
