Embassy of our republic in Pakistan organized a reception on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Heads of ministries and departments, representatives of the parliament, as well as senior representatives of the country’s armed forces attended the ceremony. Heads of Chambers of Commerce of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad, representatives of the expert-analytical circles, the media and the diplomatic corps accredited in Islamabad were also guests of the event.
During the reception, the Federal Minister of Commerce Khurram Dastagir sincerely congratulated the leadership and people of Uzbekistan with the 24 anniversary of independence of the republic. He said that Pakistan attaches high priority to the development of mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan, as well as the activation of bilateral cooperation and interaction within the United Nations, the OIC and the SCO. He once again expressed his gratitude to President Islam Karimov for the support of Pakistan in the process of joining the SCO, which Islamabad hopes that will be successfully completed during the chairmanship of Tashkent in the organization.
The Minister also appreciated the leading role of Uzbekistan in Central Asia in the implementation of important regional initiatives, in particular the creation of transnational projects, which, in his opinion, the countries of the region will provide the shortest access to the sea ports. This, in turn, will contribute to the expansion of trade and economic ties with world markets.
In the course of the event the exhibition dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of the Uzbek people was organized, as well as a photo exhibition and a demonstration video, revealing the achievements of Uzbekistan’s independence.
