According to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in January-March 2016, 20546 enterprises and organizations, including 8480 small businesses had been newly registered.
In the regional context, 2141 newly established enterprises and organizations account for the city of Tashkent, Jizzakh – 2783, Fergana – 2446, Tashkent – 2340, Kashkadarya – 1727, Samarkand – 1649, Namangan – 1266, Surkhandarya – 1218, Andijan – 1048, Syrdarya – 807, Bukhara – 775, Khorezm – 700, Navoi region – 608, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan – 1048.
In terms of types of economic activity, 12786 companies registered in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 2614 - in industry and construction, 2076 - commerce and 3070 in other activities.
As of 1 April, 2016, the total number of operating enterprises and organizations amounted 261.9 thousand, of which 211,4 thousand are small business entities.
