The Embassy of Uzbekistan has organized the second photography contest titled “Uzbekistan through the eyes of Japanese Tourists”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event aims to widely promote the country’s tourism potential in Japan and to increase the flow of Japanese tourists to Uzbekistan.

The contest was organized in collaboration with the renowned Japanese photographer Jin Akino, well-known actor and presenter, and Uzbekistan’s Tourism Ambassador in Japan Keisuke Minami, as well as Uzbekistan Culture and Tourism Association in Japan.

A dedicated website was created to ensure the high-level organization of the photography contest. Photographs taken by participants during their trips to Uzbekistan were uploaded to the site for review by the contest’s creative panel.

Between August and December 2025, when the contest was held, approximately 300 participants submitted more than 700 photographs to the panel. The images captured by Japanese tourists showcase Uzbekistan’s historical buildings, national handicrafts, traditional clothing, cuisine, modern infrastructure and the everyday life of local communities.

Based on the contest results, the creative panel selected 33 photographs, including:

In the “Best Photograph” category: a piece titled “Oriental Bazaar”, captured at the Chorsu Market;
In the “Distinguished Image” category: the “Night in the Desert” series, taken in the territory of Karakalpakstan.
Furthermore, the following works were recognized as winners: “Navruz - Spring Festival” for the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan Prize, and “The Blue World Beyond the Door” for the Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan Prize.

According to the contest’s creative team, this event will leave a lasting warm impression on both participants and observers, further popularizing Uzbekistan’s tourism brand in Japan and broadly promoting the country’s vast tourism potential.
