Professor Ming Cheng, Head of the State College at Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, shared his insights with Dunyo IA on the significance of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to France:
– From March 11 to 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev set a clear signal for Uzbekistan’s forward-looking foreign policy with his state visit to Paris. He engaged in intensive discussions that not only sustainably strengthen the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and France but also open up new perspectives for cooperation with the European Union.
During the three-day visit to the French capital, central topics were brought to the table. On the very first day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was ceremonially received by President Emmanuel Macron – a meeting characterized by mutual respect and strategic foresight. In addition to this historic dialogue, there was a focus on meetings with leading representatives from economic and cultural institutions.
A particular highlight of the visit was the discussion with Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO. In this meeting, practical aspects and preparations for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, scheduled for this autumn, were discussed in detail. This initiative underscores Uzbekistan’s determination to blend its rich cultural identity with modern progress and to further promote intercultural exchange.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev demonstrated impressively that Uzbekistan is firmly established as a modern, dynamic, and forward-thinking player in international diplomacy. The intensive talks in Paris led to initial concrete approaches for bilateral agreements – from economic and investment partnerships to joint projects in renewable energy and modern infrastructure spheres.
For France and the EU, this dialogue sends a clear signal: relations with Uzbekistan are gaining increasing strategic significance. In a time of global challenges and a growing need for sustainable solutions, close cooperation with Uzbekistan is an important pillar for advancing economic growth, technological innovation, and cultural exchange throughout Europe.
With foresight and determination, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has laid the foundation for a new era of international cooperation. His dedicated actions show that Uzbekistan is ready to face the challenges of the 21st century and to act as a reliable partner in global dialogue. The outcomes of this state visit will undoubtedly contribute to a sustainable deepening of bilateral relations and provide new impetus for the economic and cultural development of both sides.
This visit is a historic milestone that paves the way for a close strategic partnership between Uzbekistan, France, and the European Union – a testament to an unwavering belief in progress, dialogue, and a shared, sustainable future.
